Incendies (15): Saturday 7th October 2017

Powerful, raw and gripping, “Incendies” is a Canadian drama directed by Denis Villeneuve (‘Arrival’), nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. At the opening of their mother’s will, Canadian twins Jeanne and Simon are left two envelopes, asking them to find a brother they never knew existed and father they believed to be dead.

Journeying from Canada to the Middle East to unravel this mystery, they begin to uncover the terrifying secrets of their mother’s hidden past, tied in with a bloody civil war – the twists and turns of their discoveries create a wonderfully intense and compelling drama that tells a devastating story about love, hate and secrets, with a jaw-dropping ending. When history is a secret, when family is a lie – what price would you pay for the truth?
