  • To Vicki and Frank Burnett’s friends

Greetings and a very happy Easter to all of Vicki and Frank Burnett’s friends in and around Hindolveston!

Following Frank’s passing last April 23rd, as you’ve probably guessed, his wake on 28 April (which would have been his 93rd birthday) is now, sadly, not possible under current conditions.

However, those of you who love bluebells and enjoy a good walk in beautiful surroundings might like to visit his and Vicki’s memorial on that day instead, when the blooms will be at their glorious best. I plan to visit at 3 pm that afternoon, so may see some of you there. The surroundings are stunning, and there’s plenty of space to stay distanced!

The address is: Norfolk Bluebell Wood, Old Church Road, Hainford, Norfolk NR10 3BG.

If you can’t manage a visit that day, the park is open daily and makes a wonderful picnic venue.

Meanwhile, enjoy the photos below …

    With love and happy memories

    ALI BURNETT
    (daughter to Vicki and Frank)

PS If you’d be interested in attending a wake in the Village Hall next April, perhaps you’d be kind enough to email me and let me know? That will give me some idea of likely numbers. My address is [email protected]

  • Lost Cat – Found (thank you)

Our beloved cat Nelson has gone missing. He is a cat that never moves away from the house so it very unlike him to disappear.

He is called Nelson because he has one eye. He is a black and white moggy. He had no teeth. The last ones were removed at the vets this week. He has a shaved from paw we’re he had his anaesthetic and he is still on medicine. He must be hungry as he can only eat soft food.

Please look out for him and contact us if you see him.

We live at the top of Station Rd near the Dyes

    Thank you

  • Postal Voting

Press release from North Norfolk District Council

Postal Voting in 2021 Elections On Thursday 6 May 2021 elections will be taking place in North Norfolk with electors voting in the Norfolk County Council elections and the Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner Election. There are also several Parish Council by-elections also scheduled to be held on this day. Given the ongoing situation with the Covid-19 pandemic we want to give electors as much time as possible to change voting arrangements if voting in a Polling Station during the pandemic is not desired.

    Contact details

If you wish to vote by post contact us by email at [email protected] or by phone on 01263 516046 and we will send you a form.

    Quote from Returning Officer

Local Returning Officer and Chief Executive Steve Blatch said: “Whilst we are making arrangements for the safe delivery of elections at Polling Stations within North Norfolk at the forthcoming elections we are aware that a higher number of our electorate may wish to conduct their vote by post on this occasion, given the ongoing Covid-19 situation. The North Norfolk district has the oldest average age demographic in the UK, so by nature we will be seeing a larger number of our residents having a higher level of vulnerability from the virus, so applying for a Postal Vote is an effective way for our local electors to still have their say on Thursday 6 May”.

Information about applying for a postal vote

Please note that any application for a postal vote must be completed by hand using ‘wet ink’ and we are unable to accept any digitally signed applications. In order to apply for a postal vote, you must be a registered elector within North Norfolk  (see below for how to register to vote).

Completed applications can either be returned by email to [email protected] or posted to Electoral Services, North Norfolk District Council, Holt Road, Cromer, NR27 9EN.

Given the anticipated high volume of applications for postal votes we advise you to make your applications as soon as possible.

    How to register to vote

If you need to register the easiest way to do so is online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote but again alternatively you can contact us by phone on 01263 516046 to do so.

  • Fakenham Virtual Christmas Tree Festival

The Fakenham Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival Team had lengthy debate back in April before deciding that we had to go virtual.  We now regard this as admirable foresight!  Our plans are very well advanced. and the daily videos for the website – fakenhamchristmastreefestival.co.uk – have been filmed and are being edited ready for release.

Unfortunately, lockdown 2.0 will mean some changes, but much will be able to go ahead as planned. The website will operate as announced and both the Town Trail and the art competition can go ahead.  Entry forms for the Town Trail can be downloaded from the website or collected from Bailey, Bird & Warren in Bridge Street.  If neither of these is possible, the back of an envelope will be fine!  Completed entries can be emailed to [email protected] or delivered to the Rectory Office in Gladstone Road.

Sadly, there will not be a live-streamed service on ‘Festival Sunday’, but there will be a pre-recorded service on the website.

Fakenham will be ‘Christmas Tree Town’.  We are asking those businesses which offered to have a Christmas Tree themed display to do this whenever they can and individual households to use this second enforced ‘stay at home’ to create exciting and imaginative displays for their homes.

Whatever its limitations, and whatever the obstacles, there will be a Fakenham Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival in 2020!

  • Remembrance Sunday 2020

This year marked the 75th anniversary of VJ Day, when the Second World War ended. IF government regulations allow us, we are hoping to hold a short act of remembrance on Sunday 8th November at 10:45 outside at the village war memorial.

    Health and Safety

Those who attend must remain in their family bubbles, and obey the rule of six, and we would suggest that they also wear face coverings.

However, as the current situation with COVID 19 is so fluid we might have to cancel at short notice. Therefore if you plan to join us please look at the village website to confirm if the commemoration is still taking place.

  • Public Access Defibrillator available again at the Village Hall

We now have a temporary defibrillator available at the Village Hall site while our one is being repaired.

To access the defibrillator remember to dial 999 and the code will be given to you by the operator. Once you have used the defibrillator please inform the parish clerk email [email protected] so that replacement parts can be ordered.
