MRS HARRIS GOES TO PARIS
Lesley Manville plays a chirpy cleaner who comes into money and heads to Paris with a dream to buy a beautiful Christian Dior gown. Wide-eyed Mrs Harris is initially looked down on with haughty Gallic astonishment by the fashion house, who have no wish to be addressed as “ducks”. But Mrs Harris’s charm wins everyone over. With a lovely sweet-natured sense of fun, Manville plays this with absolute conviction: her naivety with just the right lightness and her determination with the right edge of steel.
