  • Mobile Post Office Van

Unfortunately the Mobile Post Office Van will no longer be visiting Hindolveston and the other villages in the area. The Post Master from Guist, who had the contract, is very sorry that he is no longer able to provide this service for the wider community. It is understood that the Post Office are moving to a new ‘model’ – a pop-up style post office in a public space. However no further details are available.

The Parish Council understands the concerns about the removal of this provision of a post office service and would encourage you all to contact the MP and the District and County Councillors so that they can put pressure on the Post Office to continue to provide post office services in rural communities such as Hindolveston.

  • Are you worried about paying your bills?

With increasing energy prices and ever rising food and commodity prices many people among us will struggle this coming autumn and winter.  There are many places that people can turn for help and support, however, knowing exactly where to go for the right type of advice can be tricky.

In order to help local residents, Norfolk Association of Local Councils has put together a page of ‘quick links’ to sources of help and support.

Please use the following link to find help and support: Are you worried about paying monthly bills short.

    QUEEN ELIZABETH 11

    April 21st, 1926 – September 8th, 2022

To mark the end of a glorious and historic reign by our beloved Queen Elizabeth, a Book of Remembrance has been placed in our Hindolveston Church which will be open from 1000 hrs. on Saturday 10th September. This will be an opportunity for all to come and show thanks through quiet contemplation and also leaving written comments in the Book of Remembrance.

She will be sadly missed but also long remembered. Our thoughts are also with her family as they come to terms with their loss and for Charles in particular as he ascends to the throne.

    GOD SAVE THE KING

  • Sincere Condolences

The Parish Council would like to offer, on behalf of the people of Hindolveston, our deepest condolences to the family of Queen Elizabeth the Second.

The Queen will forever be in our memories for all her devotion to her country and she had a special place in the heart of Norfolk people.

A book of condolence will be available in St George’s Church.

  • Message from UK Power Networks

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing regarding our preparations for Storms Dudley and Eunice, which will arrive consecutively in the UK from tomorrow (Wednesday 16th February).

As you may be aware, UK Power Networks manages the local power lines and substations which distribute electricity to over 8.3m homes and businesses across London, the South East and the East of England.

Storm Dudley will arrive tomorrow and is forecast to have a minimal impact on our network. However, Storm Eunice is expected to arrive on Friday 18th and is expected to bring stronger winds and unsettled weather.

Our electricity network is built to be resilient but strong winds and heavy rain can bring down branches and trees, damaging overhead power lines. Where this happens we work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

We have organised for additional staff in our contact centre and more engineers on the ground, particularly for Storm Eunice, to be available to help customers whose electricity supply might be affected by the predicted weather.

Both you and your residents will be able to find regular updates and information about individual power cuts on our website www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk . We will also be posting general updates on @UKPowerNetworks .

Anyone experiencing a power cut should:

    • Visit www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/powercut and type in their postcode to view our live power cut map, with details of individual power cuts
    • Call 105 free of charge to speak to our customer service team, report a power cut or damage to the electricity network
    • Tweet @UKPowerNetworks to report a power cut or to receive updates
    • Visit www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk for the latest updates

We advise people to stay clear of power lines and report damaged power lines immediately by calling 105 free from either a landline or a mobile phone. If they see electricity lines that are down or causing significant risk to the public they should call 999.

We provide extra help to customers on our Priority Service Register during a power cut.  Households with older or disabled people, those with children under five, or where someone uses medical or mobility equipment that requires electricity as well as other reasons can join the register.  You can find out more information about our Priority Service on our website: ukpowernetworks.co.uk/priority .

If you would like to share information with your constituents about preparing for the storm or registering for the Priority Service Register, you might like to share the following on Twitter or to your local Facebook pages:

As a result of #StormEunice, heavy rain and high winds are due to arrive on Fri 18th Feb. @UKPowerNetworks has extra field engineers and call centre staff on hand to support any customers affected. Call 105 to report a powercut or visit www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/powercut #ukpnnews

Do you, or someone you know, need extra support during a power cut? @UKPowerNetworks provides free services to customers in vulnerable circumstances during a power cut. Visit ukpowernetworks.co.uk/priority for more information. #StormEunice #ukpnnews

If you have any questions, or if I can help in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Yours faithfully,

    Michael

  • Thank you from Mid Norfolk Foodbank

A letter of thanks has been received from Mid Norfolk Foodbank for the donation of £138 from the Santa Romp.

‘….Thank you so much for your recent very generous donation to Mid Norfolk Foodbank. It continues to be a busy season at the Foodbank, with a remarkable 47 tonnes of food donated last year. We fed a total of 2,879 people throughout 2021 from our distribution centres at Dereham, Fakenham and Swaffham. Our volunteers across the centres and in our Dereham warehouse have continued to work throughout the pandemic, despite challenging restrictions and the obvious risks involved. Thank you so much for helping us to keep providing this vital service.’

    Tuesday 23rd November 2021

    10 am – 12 noon

    Fresh coffee and delicious cake

Join the Coffee Shop volunteers for a trial run of Coffee Shop.

To help keep us all safer from the spread of Covid-19 we’ve made a few changes:

    • There’s a hand sanitiser dispenser on the way in.
    • Tables will be further apart with fewer seats at each.
    • Payment will be by a donation/honesty box system (all items are £1 or £1.50).
    • There’ll be socially distanced queuing at the counter and, to help protect the people serving, you will be asked to wear your mask.
    • Windows will be open to let the fresh air in.

We’re still using the old entrance at the back of the building until all work is finished on the new entrance.

Let’s protect one another – Don’t forget your mask!
