Step by step, a spark is ignited in Harold as he rediscovers the majesty of the world and gains the strength to face the grief that has driven him and his wife apart. The walk becomes a pilgrimage that inspires people far and wide and transforms Harold into a man who embraces the value of friendship, humility and kindness

    BARBIE (12)

Barbie (Margot Robbie) and Ken (Ryan Gosling) are having the time of their lives in the colourful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans. “To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place. Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken.” An unexpected joy… ironic, sardonic, and very very funny!
“A riotous, candy-coloured feminist fable – Barbie takes a ride from her dream house to reality, as director Greta Gerwig takes another cultural icon and lovingly subverts it” – The Guardian

PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE (15)

A haunting French costume drama set in the 18th century. Painter Marianne is commissioned by an affluent countess to paint the wedding portrait of her sheltered but headstrong daughter Héloïse.  While posing as her hired companion, Marianne is instructed to complete the portrait in secret, observing Héloïse by day and painting her by night. However, as the two women grow closer, their intimacy and attraction begins to blossom, paving the way for a simmering, star-crossed romance. French language with English subtitles.
“Mesmerised by the female gaze, this is a perceptive, erotic exploration of power” (The Guardian).

    Saturday November 18th

    THE LOST KING  (12A)

In 2012, the remains of King Richard III were discovered beneath a carpark in Leicester, by an amateur historian, Philippa Langley (Sally Hawkins), whose unrelenting research had been met with scepticism by experts and academics.’ The Lost King’ is the life-affirming true story of a woman who refused to be ignored and who took on the country’s most eminent historians, forcing them to think again about one of the most controversial kings in England’s history.
“Warmly funny and historically curious, Sally Hawkins’ spirited, humane performance leaves you reaching for the history books” (Empire).
